Step Into Sport
Step Into Sport focuses on young people aged 14-19, giving them opportunities to become involved in sports leaderships and volunteering and contribute to their local community by volunteering to help at a quality local sports club.
The programme is funded by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and co-ordinated by the Youth Sports Trust and Sport England. It aims to build on the Sports Leadership Award and Community Sports Leadership Award and is a vital tool in creating greater volunteer links between schools and sports clubs.
Step Into Sport aims to identify a Volunteer Coordinator in local sports clubs, to oversee recruitment, training and retention of volunteers in the club. The programme supports the appointment and development of a new network of volunteer coordinators.
All young volunteers taking part in the programme have the opportunity to have their achievement recognised. This will be in the form of a series of Step into Sport Awards:
| Bronze | For completing 50 hours of volunteering |
| Silver | For completing 100 hours of volunteering |
| Gold | For completing 200 hours of volunteering |
