Orienteering

Brierley Forest - Ashfield

Rushcliffe's winning team with EMA - Rascal Rabbit, Coun Allin, Coun Carroll, Coun May Barsby - Vice Chair Ashfield DC

On Saturday 06 October, the East Midlands Airport Nottinghamshire Youth Games orienteering competition finally got underway. The event took place in the beautiful surroundings of Brierley Forest Park in Ashfield.

Previously arranged for 30 June but washed out by the horrendous unseasonable weather, the districts of Nottinghamshire were keener than ever to compete.

Last year’s winners Ashfield were hoping to build on their home advantage as the host district.

The event was attended by:

  • Councillor May Barsby - Vice Chair of Ashfield District Council.
  • Councillor John Allin - Vice Chair of Nottinghamshire County Council and his Lady - Mrs Mavis Allin
  • Councillor Steve Carroll - Portfolio Holder for Culture and Regeneration - Nottinghamshire County Council
  • Rascal the Rabbit - East Midlands Airport
  • Brocky Broccoli - Ashfield District Council Healthy Lifestyles

The event was won by the team from Rushcliffe (pictured above)

The event results were as follows

Position District
1 Rushcliffe
2 Newark & Sherwood
3 Ashfield
4 Bassetlaw
