Olympics
On July 6th 2005, London was selected as the host city for the 2012 summer Olympic and Paralympic Games. The games are often labelled as the ‘greatest show on earth’, involving thousands of sports men and women from around the globe aiming to reach the ultimate in sporting achievement.
The Olympic and Paralympic games will take place almost entirely in London. However, the bid team stressed throughout their campaign, that the games would benefit the whole of Britain.
As a county that is well connected to London by rail and road, Nottinghamshire has already undertaken significant research into the likely opportunities.
